Our Approach
Responding to your needs...
Being person-centred counsellors means that our sessions are primarily based around the specific needs of each individual client. We do not work to a pre-set formula or seek to impose our way of thinking upon you.
Drawing on our knowledge, experience and understanding we will help you to gain insight into yourself and your experiences, to deal better with feelings and emotions, helping you to emerge from the counselling process emotionally stronger and better able to cope with life’s problem.
Being person-centred also means we place a lot of emphasis upon the importance of developing a close and trusting relationship with our clients. We aim to create a safe setting in which you can feel you are able to speak honestly and openly and without any sense of being judged.

As well as being person-centred we both have a wide range of professional training and experience and will draw upon other approaches where we feel it is appropriate. These might include CBT, Holistic, Psychodynamic and Transactional approaches. While our first emphasis is always upon exploring feelings, beliefs and emotions contributing to a problem, we can also help you to develop practical strategies and work with you on mindfulness and relaxation techniques where this helps.
